Dr. Cecile Komara
Dr. Cecile Komara earned her PhD in Special Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Kansas in 2006. She continued her studies and in 2012 earned her MS in Human Environmental Sciences majoring in Human Development and Family Studies. Dr. Komara is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Alabama. She has an interest in child development and how children learn. Her specialty area is early childhood mathematics. Dr. Komara has presented at national conferences such as the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and National Head Start Association (NHSA). During the 2013-2014 academic year, Dr. Komara was the project coordinator for the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) Pilot Project. She remains involved with the Alabama Quality STARS (QRIS) as the Principal Investigator on the service grant.
